Balloon Back - Complete

This balloon-back chair was originally caned and had wadding placed on top and covered with the top fabric. I removed the caning (which the client did not want replaced) and strengthened the frame ready for upholstering which included adding braces and replacing a broken joint on one of the front legs. The seat has been traditionally upholstered using an un-sprung stuffover technique. The trickiest part was keeping the beautiful scalloped edge well-defined. The client's choice of fabric suits the chair and accentuates the gentle dome of the seat.
